We are having so much fun with this plug-in. What cool effects we can get too, especially with our travel photos. A lot of these work best with blue skies, white clouds. But then DH has had some luck with pictures of ships. Here are a couple of the USS Missouri in Hawaii:

First, I'm so excited as we got a new camera last week! The Exchange had a 40D with a great price and we just couldn't pass it up. We were planning on doing so with the rebates and all, we just got lucky with instant gratification and not having to pay shipping.
We had a great time playing around with the camera on the 4th, but our main focus was fireworks. We used both cameras, the 40D handheld and the Xti on a tripod. I'm really surprised at how the 40D did with the IS (image stabalized) lens.
These were taken on the tripod with the remote--now we need to get a remote for the other camera, unfortunately the one we have won't work with it.
It's too bad we only have once a year to really practice with these. It was difficult too in that the displays were all over the place. One minute they'd be right in front, the next, direcly over head. I'd really like to be able to practice with the fireworks at a bit of a distance. Until next year!
Hope you all have a good day, ours has come and gone here. What a day too! Crazy weather, lots of fun, too much food. We took SO many photos it's not even funny. Tried out some new stuff, and even got a fireworks shot we're proud of.
I used the bulb setting on the camera and f/11 as recommended. It was harder than I thought, but this was mainly due to the fireworks being shot right before us. They were all over the place and it was too difficult to keep moving the camera, so I just pointed it up and went for it! Being so close too made it really bright at times and of course the smoke got in the way, so it was a challenge. DS had a camera set up as well and was using its firework setting, here's his:
As for the challenge this week, there was a ton of red, white and blue here. My choice photo, the firetruck. Just something about a nicely decorated truck in a parade:
The challenge this week is for patriotic photos. I haven't had a chance to take any yet, but am hoping to do so on the 4th. I'm sure I'll have lots of opportunities then. But, in thinking of this challenge, the first thing that came to mind was a photo DH took years ago, before we even met. I can't remember if he was on deployment or just at sea, but when he got it developed, Costco wanted a copy!
Pretty cool, eh? It was taken with a 35mm point and shoot and this is actually a scanned copy. Happy 4th!
